HEAVEN OUR REAL HOME?
By Ryan Hicks
Some fallacies about heaven are: "When we die, we will go to be with Jesus in heaven forever"; "Heaven is our home"; "Heaven is a state of mind"; "When we get to heaven, we will play harps on our cloud"; "There will be nothing to do in heaven, except rest in God's glory!" All of these statements are fallacies, and easily seen as such by a student of the Bible.
It is almost universally taught that believers will spend all eternity in heaven, while most don't even know what heaven is. Heaven is simple to understand from studying the many Scriptures dealing with it (See 76 Truths About The Third Heaven).
Do the teachers who teach that we will spend eternity in heaven have any Scriptural basis for such a belief? The answer is a overwhelming, NO! I have yet to be presented, by people who teach this, even one Scripture proving such a theory. It is obvious why they don't present me any Scripture backing up their position, because there is no Scripture to support it. Yet, they continue to teach it as if it was taught in the Bible, because they would rather hold to tradition and religion rather than the clear teachings of God's Holy word.
Please do not misunderstand me. The saints will go to heaven upon death (2 Corinthians 5:8; Philippians 1:21-24; Hebrews 12:23; James 2:26; Revelation 6:9-11), but they will not spend eternity there as we shall see in this study.
SCRIPTURES PROVING THAT THE SAINTS WILL LIVE ON EARTH FOR ALL ETERNITY
Revelation 3:12
12 Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.
Revelation 21:2-3
2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.
Revelation 21:10
10 And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God,
The Capital City of the Universe, God's dwelling place, the New Jerusalem, will come down from heaven to earth and God will dwell with men forever!
Ezekiel 43:7
7 And he said unto me, Son of man, the place of my throne, and the place of the soles of my feet, where I will dwell in the midst of the children of Israel for ever, and my holy name, shall the house of Israel no more defile, neither they, nor their kings, by their whoredom, nor by the carcasses of their kings in their high places.
Daniel 7:13-14
13 I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him.
14 And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.
The Lord Jesus' kingdom will be a everlasting kingdom over people, nations, and languages. He will rule for 1,000 years (the Millennium) and after the 1,000 years He will have put down all rebellion, and will deliver the kingdom up to God the Father, and will rule under the Father for all eternity on the earth (Daniel 2:44-45; 1 Corinthians 15:24-28; Revelation 20:1-10).
Isaiah 9:6-7
6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
7 Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.
Luke 1:31-33
31 And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.
32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give him the throne of his father David:
33 And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.
We all are aware that King David ruled a earthly kingdom (2 Samuel 5:4-5; 1 Kings 2:11; 1 Chronicles 26:31-32; 29:26-30). The Lord Jesus is to rule upon the throne of David forever. How can He rule upon David's throne, if He is going to be in heaven for all eternity? Obviously, He cannot, because His kingdom is to be a earthly kingdom for all eternity.
Revelation 11:15
15 And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.
MISCELLANEOUS SCRIPTURES TOTALLY DISPROVING THE DOCTRINE THAT SAINTS WILL SPEND ETERNITY IN HEAVEN
Psalm 37:11
11 But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.
Matthew 5:5
5 Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
Matthew 25:34
34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
Romans 4:13
13 For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.
Revelation 1:5-6
5 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,
6 And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
Revelation 2:26-27
26 And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations:
27 And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father.
Revelation 5:8-10
8 And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of the saints.
9 And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;
10 And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on earth.
These Scriptures make it abundantly clear that we will dwell on earth forever, not on the planet heaven forever. Not one single Scripture out of the over 30,000 verses of the Bible comes anywhere close to teaching the doctrine that man will spend eternity in heaven. Like all unscriptural doctrines, it should be rejected as a vain tradition of man, and put out of the Biblically literate believer's mind once and for all! Let God be true, and every man a liar (Romans 3:4)!
