Are Jehovah's Witnesses Better Witnesses Than You?

ARE JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES BETTER WITNESSES THAN YOU?

By Ryan Hicks

One evening a few days ago I opened my front door and from the crack in the door fell a tract (seen below).

This is a Jehovah's Witnesses tract. It has a few short paragraphs and is essentially to get you to meet them to find out what they do to "mark the anniversary of Jesus' death" (note, they never mention in the tract anything about His glorious resurrection). That being said, this article is not about Jehovah's Witnesses and their false teachings. This article is about Christians and their dire need to get out and witness to the people they can reach. I thought about this cult tract being left on my door and how I have lived at the same address for many years and do not get Christian tracts explaining the great gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. Besides my materials I distribute in my local community, the only Christian materials I see is churches advertising some new fad program they are teaching, but nothing about the saving grace of God through Christ!

Christians should be shamed. We have the true gospel, the gift of the Holy Spirit, and the faith of God, but cultists are more zealous for their faith! I was thinking about writing this article and wondered what practical solutions I could offer you. I do not just want to shame you, but I want to offer you a way to resolve this problem. I came up with a quick few ideas on how ANYONE that names the name of Jesus Christ can witness to their local area. I fully understand some of you are not made to be door-to-door witnesses, but this does not mean there is nothing you can do for the kingdom. So here are a few ideas I had. (I know a few of you reading this are diligent and zealous for the Lord Jesus Christ, but maybe some of these ideas can help you.)

  • Put tracts on the doors of the homes in your neighborhood (ESPECIALLY if you just got a cult tract like the Jehovah's Witness tract, combat the error with a solid gospel based tract). Make sure these tracts are Scriptural, give lots of verses, and are NOT manipulative. If you cannot find such a tract then just make a tract on a sheet of paper with verses of Scripture and suggest that the reader repent and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.
  • Mail a postcard with saving Scriptures on it (John 3:16;  Romans 10:9; etc.) to as many people as you can afford to mail to. Try to make this nice and professional. Do not slop this out, since the gospel is important and worthy of being presented in a clear and quality manner.
  • Go door-to-door witnessing. I suggest this only for those called to do this and well studied in the word. You had better be prayed up and be led by the Spirit in this. This is not for everyone, so if you do not feel led to do so then do not. I have seen more problems from inadequately prepared people bumbling the Scripture and poorly presenting the gospel door-to-door.
  • If you know brothers and sisters that are going out witnessing and you are not gifted for this ministry then you can always pray for them and intercede for them as you are led by the Spirit of God.
  • Prepare a weekly or monthly newsletter that you either take door-to-door or mail to everyone you can. Have a different lesson in each newsletter and always present the option for salvation. It can be a simple one page newsletter, but just make sure it has a lot of Scripture references and is accurate. If you are having trouble with it feel free to contact me and I will assist you in this gospel work.
  • Put a message about how to get saved on a community bulletin board (sometimes grocery stores, department stores, municipal buildings, etc. will have these).

There are many other things you can do, but these are just a few I thought up when writing this. Please contact me and let me know of some other ideas and I will add them to the article. Everyone has a place in witnessing and I hope you can find your place and make a mighty move for the kingdom of God!

1 Corinthians 12:12-27
12 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.
13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
14 For the body is not one member, but many.
15 If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?
16 And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?
17 If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling?
18 But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him.
19 And if they were all one member, where were the body?
20 But now are they many members, yet but one body.
21 And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you.
22 Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary:
23 And those members of the body, which we think to be less honourable, upon these we bestow more abundant honour; and our uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness.
24 For our comely parts have no need: but God hath tempered the body together, having given more abundant honour to that part which lacked:
25 That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another.
26 And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it.
27 Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.
