HELP! WHO DO I PRAY TO?
By Ryan Hicks
I had a woman desperately tell me how confused she was after leaving her King James Bible only for a multiplicity of translations. Her main dilemma was she did not know who to pray to. Instead of the way the Bible teaches us to pray to the Father, she was now reading versions telling her to pray to Jesus. This caused much confusion for her.
The Bible, the King James Bible, is clear that you pray to the Father.
Matthew 6:9-13
9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
It is clear from the Bible that we pray to the Father. Our Lord Jesus Christ prayed to the Father. In John 14:16 the Lord Jesus said, "And I will pray the Father...." He commanded us to pray to the Father as well. We are to pray to the Father, in the name of the Son, and by the leading of the Spirit of God.
