Becoming God's enemies seems to be a common goal of many professed Christians. I
would imagine a majority of the people reading this that call themselves
Christ's are actually God's enemies and are such under the false guise of being
loving.
James 4:4
4 Ye adulterers
and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with
God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of
God.
Now, I want you to think about
your friends and acquaintances. Who do you socialize with frequently? Are they
godly Christians living upright lives of faith or backsliders and outright
unsaved people? If the later you are God's enemy. You can make all the tired
excuses like, "I am trying to be a good witness to them." No, you are one of
them, and you are God's enemy. If you want to witness, then do so, but
befriending them and making them think they have the Christian's stamp of
approval on their life means you have chosen them over God.
2 Corinthians 6:14-18
14 Be ye not unequally yoked
together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with
unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
15 And what
concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an
infidel?
16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are
the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk
in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
17
Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and
touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,
18 And will be a
Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord
Almighty.
Who are you going to
obey, the world or God? God tells you that He will be your Father and you will
be His child only if you are not unequally yoked together with unbelievers, nor
have fellowship with unrighteousness, nor have communion with darkness. You
claim to be saved and be a child of God but you are friends with unbelievers?
You are as unsaved as they are. You are merely playing religious games with God
and you are His enemy. If you were truly saved you would have little to nothing
in common with the unbelievers. You would not be friends because you would be
totally incompatible. A saint would be mindful of the Lord and ever speaking
praises of Him and the sinner would be mindful of self and exalting
sin.
2 Chronicles 19:2
2 And Jehu
the son of Hanani the seer went out to meet him, and said to king Jehoshaphat,
Shouldest thou help the ungodly, and love them that hate the
LORD?
therefore is wrath upon thee from before the LORD.
The wrath of God was upon Jehoshaphat because he
helped the ungodly and loved them that hate the Lord. Can you, professed
Christian, expect anything other than God's wrath when you disobey His plain
commands and are a friend of the world?
1 Corinthians 15:33
33 Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt
good manners.
Your evil
associations will corrupt your good manners, not vice versa. Stop with the lame
excuses about how you are trying to win the unbelievers to Christ. You are an
unbeliever yourself if you are friends with unbelievers. You do not believe the
Scriptures anymore than they do, and you disobey it just like they do in your
very act of being friends with them. You are a hell bound sinner just as lost as
those you supposedly want to convert to your disobedient form of religion. Why
does the world want to be friends with you supposed Christians? The answer is
simply because you are one of its own. Jesus said, "If ye were of the world, the
world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen
you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you" (John 15:19). John said,
"Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you" (1 John 3:13). The world does
not hate you because you are of the world yourself. Repent of such evil and come
to faith in the true Lord Jesus Christ, not the "jesus" of your vain
imaginations. Forsake your fellowship with unrighteousness and start having
fellowship with the righteous. If you are easily lulled into fellowship with the
world, then bring some stronger brothers or sisters in Christ with you if you
are going to witness. Do not allow yourself to get caught up in the same evil
again. "Can two walk together, except they be agreed?" (Amos 3:3). Either you
will agree with God and God's people and walk with them, or your will agree with
Satan and his people and walk with them. The choice is between being a child of
God or being an enemy of God, and you have no middle ground to take. Choose
today whom you will serve.
Psalms
1:1-3
1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly,
nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the
scornful.
2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his
law doth he meditate day and night.
3 And he shall be like a tree planted by
the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also
shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
