WHY NOT TO CALL SODOMITES "HOMOSEXUALS"
By Ryan Hicks
The term "homosexual" is too neutral. It presents the sodomites as just another acceptable lifestyle, just as if it and heterosexuality (being normal) are equal. The truth is that it is another lifestyle, even an alternative lifestyle, but it is not an acceptable alternative. It is an alternative to obeying and loving God. It is an alternative to nature and changes the natural use into that which is against nature (Romans 1:26-27).
"Homosexuality" is simply another soul-damning lifestyle, and is not to be classed with heterosexuality which is normal and the common sense reality. Man joins perfectly with woman, and woman joins perfectly with man. Man and man, and woman and woman do not work. It does not take much sense to figure this out. Even the wild animals have this much sense.
Some Biblical terms for what people like to call "homosexuals" are:
- Dog (male "homosexual," Deuteronomy 23:18; Revelation 22:15)
- Sow (female "homosexual," 2 Peter 2:22)
- Sodomite (male and female "homosexual," Deuteronomy 23:17; 1 Kings 14:24; 15:12; 22:46; 2 Kings 23:7). Contrary to popular belief this does not simply mean "a resident of Sodom." At one time it meant that and then God destroyed Sodom and the cities around it for their sin of sodomy, and later the term "sodomite" became synonymous with one who perverts the natural use of woman or man (see Genesis 18-19). The Bible specifically mentions this sin in Lamentations 4:6, and God Almighty calls this sin "very grievous"(Genesis 18:20).
Greg Louganis, who was an Olympic diver and is a sodomite, once said that he did not understand why "fags" were offended by being called "fags." He said, "I am a fag. So?" So even the sodomites are not generally offended by you using descriptive terms for them. It is generally pretend Christians and wimps that are busy pretending to love the world and do not want to offend anyone by speaking the truth in love.
I am not talking about berating sodomites or name-calling. I just want the church to speak Biblically when referring to sin. So instead of "homosexual," you would say, "Sodomite." Instead of "divorced and remarried" you would say, "Adulterer" (Romans 7:1-3). We should not get caught up in the world's vocabulary, because it can water down the impact that we have when rebuking sin. When you rebuke homosexuality, people believe you are rebuking something that is just another choice like the normal sexuality, heterosexuality. Yet, when you use the above terms that type of thought does not enter their minds, except they be reprobates. Let us use godly words that do not water down the treachery of such filth and wickedness as that of the sodomites.
